Thank you for your interest in our school. We are a well-established, warm and friendly community of educational professionals and our families, teaching and living here on the beautiful island of Hengqin, next to Zhuhai and Macau.
I joined in January 2025 after deep experience of UK independent boarding schools. I know Harrow well after being fortunate enough to be a scholar there, many years ago, and am delighted to rejoin the Harrow family in a different century and a different context here in Asia. The connection with Harrow School is real, and integral to our identity both on the surface, and embedded in everything we do. We have a complex identity – both British and Chinese; bilingual but international in outlook; day and boarding; academic and holistic; supportive but ambitious.
We are a young and small school, approaching our fifth birthday in 2026, but growing steadily in students and faculty towards 300 students and beyond. We are the premium British-curriculum school in this part of the Greater Bay Area, which hosts six AISL Harrow schools – two in Shenzhen, two in Hong Kong, Hengqin/Zhuhai, and Guangzhou from 2026. This makes for close cooperation between us – students travel to MUNs, debates, sports matches and talks at these schools, and teachers likewise make visits in the GBA and across the wider AISL Harrow group.
Whether you have taught in China already or are looking for a new adventure in the East, I hope you are interested in finding out more.

We are academically-focused, with an emphasis on rapid English acquisition, to unlock the rest of the curriculum, but also with a strong theme of character education and leadership in all its forms. We teach to International GCSEs and A levels from a range of UK exam boards, alongside the Chinese National Curriculum in a sophisticated tapestry of bilingual and bicultural education developed within the Harrow group.
We love the arts – Music in particular is developing fast with fledgling choirs, orchestral groups, bands, and a digital organ in our Atrium. Drama has a superb performance space and increasingly ambitious productions; Art is popular with students’ work displayed all over the school.
Popular sports are rowing, basketball, badminton, football and swimming. We have access to fabulous rowing facilities at the Tinmuk River rowing park 400m from our school and our own Harrow-liveried boats live in the boathouse. Hengqin is hosting the largest rowing event in China this November and we are proud to be part of it.
The Greater Bay Area is a modern, dynamic and comfortable place to live; our school is surrounded by fields and hills, rivers and parks, with excellent air quality from the off-shore winds. We are 4km from the border port to Macau, and about 90 minutes to central Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou.
At Harrow LiDe Hengqin, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We value diversity, collaboration, and professional growth. Here are what some of our colleagues say about living and teaching in our community.
