HARROW Li DE SCHOOL HENGQIN

Harrow LiDe School Hengqin (usually referred to as ‘Harrow Hengqin’) is located in the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone on the beautiful island of Hengqin. It is a day and boarding school dedicated to providing international bilingual education across grades K-12. As the only Harrow bilingual school in the Greater Bay Area, it offers a top-tier Harrow LiDe education system designed for Chinese and overseas Chinese students, as well as an international student programme, establishing a new benchmark in bilingual education in the Greater Bay Area. The international spirit of the school is boosted by the diverse student body: over 30% of students do not speak Mandarin as their first language, originating from Hong Kong, Macau or from outside China, including the UK, Thailand, Australia, Canada, USA and SIngapore. Intensive teaching in the English language and immersion in school activities, led in English, leads to bilingualism. Those who do not speak Mandarin fluently are similarly coached in Chinese as a second language to become bilingual. Many of our students are becoming trilingual.

Harrow Hengqin is strategically located near the Novotown complex in the middle of Hengqin island, just 4km from Macau – amongst green open spaces, next to the river, the rowing park and over 100km of walking and bike trails. The spacious campus of 50,000m² designed by architects Aedas has capacity for 1000 students, including 300 boarding places (from age 8 to 11 in Junior Boarding and 11-18 in Senior Boarding).

Interactive outdoor learning spaces are designed to encourage students to engage with a natural educational environment. The campus layout features a variety of multipurpose spaces indoors and outdoors, an astroturf pitch, a 400m running track (new in 2025), and roof gardens. A large sports hall, indoor 25m swimming pool, large studio theatre, computer suites, golf simulator, pottery room, dance studios, two libraries and auditorium are among the facilities the students enjoy. Weekly and flexi-boarding options are offered for maximum convenience, with a wide programme of Co-Curricular, Super-Curricular and After-School Activities.

In Summer 2026, Harrow Hengqin students took A Level exams for the first time in our history, and achieved a world-class 44% A* grades, which exceed many top academic schools in the UK and internationally taking A levels (the UK average of A* grades awarded in 2026 is 9.6%).

Our graduating G12 cohort included one student who achieved five A*s – in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Our 2026 IGCSE results were also strong, with a 100% pass rate, 37% of grades at A*-A, and 65% at A*, A or B. One student achieved ten A* grades across his ten subjects.

We are equally proud of our students’ accomplishments where they are the best grades that they could have achieved, working in their second or third language. ‘Value-Added’ is the measure that really shows how good a school is, and our VA score is stronger this year than ever before.

A levels are the UK school graduation exams, established since 1951 and recognised across the world as a ‘gold standard’ exam for university entry. Since the introduction of the A* grade in 2010, the exam has authority to differentiate the very top levels of ability and academic skill at this age.

Harrow Hengqin is accredited to teach GCSE, IGCSE, A Level and International A Level courses from Cambridge International, Pearson Edexcel, and AQA.
