The summer holidays have ended, and Harrow Hengqin has once again come alive, welcoming a new academic year with hope and challenges. We warmly welcome all our new and returning students back to campus to embark on an exciting new journey.
A New Academic Year with a New School Song
On 1st September, Harrow Hengqin celebrated the first day of term. Sunshine bathed the campus, and the air was filled with youthful energy. Students, wearing their Harrow hats, solemnly took part in the school’s inaugural assembly of the new academic year. The school leadership team delivered speeches in turn, offering their best wishes and hopes for the term ahead.

During the assembly, students were introduced to new teachers and learnt a new Harrow school song — Five Hundred Faces. This song, composed in 1883, is taken from the classic Harrow Song Book.

The Harrow Song Book is a treasured musical collection of Harrow School, containing over 50 songs closely connected to school life. It is widely used at ceremonies and alumni events, reflecting Harrow’s rich cultural heritage.

To make the song more relatable to our students, our Head Master specially adapted the lyrics to the Hengqin context. The words portray the confusion and unfamiliarity felt when first arriving on campus, while also conveying a deep sense of belonging to Harrow Hengqin as time passes.

This is a fusion of music and spirit, as well as a sense of identity uniquely belonging to the “Harrow family.”
Welcoming New Students From All Around the World
In the new term, Harrow Hengqin not only welcomed familiar faces but also opened its arms to new students from all around the world. Carrying dreams and aspirations, they stepped into this vibrant campus, bringing fresh energy to the community.

On the eve of the term, the school organised an orientation day for new students and their parents. Through meeting teachers and learning about the curriculum and school culture, the students quickly integrated into Harrow life. Ice-breaking activities also helped forge early friendships, laying a solid foundation for their new learning journey.
